Do a backup of your data prior to attempting any of the available "Factory Reset" options, as your Data is probably far more valuable to you that your NAS is.Twonky Server is a DLNA / UPnP Media Server from Lynx Technology. I obviously can not recommend attempting this without a Backup already completed, as anything can happen when "resetting" equipment, but I can at least share my positive experience with completing a "Factory Reset", in hopes that it makes you more comfortable with the process. Once this was completed, the Optware IPKG re-installed without further issue. I resolved this by deleting: /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/Optware and all of it's contents. Optware (IPKG) was a little challenging, in that it refused to re-install. I found that I needed to re-install both my IPKG and XMail QPKG's. Your experience may differ, so Backup First!Īfter the reset, I needed to reconfigure the NAS in order to access it via my network This worked without issue. I lived dangerously, and attempted this without benefit of a recent backup, (not recommended!), and I was relieved to find that it worked as documented without loss of my data. I recently needed to reset my NAS, and I used the Advanced system reset instructions, as I too wanted my NAS reset, but did NOT want to loose my Data ( /share/MD0_DATA ). You will probably want to follow the instructions for a " Advanced system reset", as this will restore your settings to Factory Default, but will do so without erasing your data on /share/MD0_DATA or /share/HDA_DATA. This information on this page includes instructions for both " Basic system reset" and " Advanced system reset". Information about the other methods of restore to " Factory Settings", are available on the Hardware page. 2 of the 3 methods will erase your entire NAS!!!įor example if you use the "Factory Reset" within the Admin WebUI (See: Factory Reset), it will ERASE all of your data! There are 3 different methods of restoring your NAS to "Factory Settings". Hrishi wrote:BTW, If i do "Restore to Factory Default", it won't touch the data inside the hard drives, right? Wrong! Try installing the Twonky 6.0.38 QPKG as that works fine on my setup (it shows thumbnails correctly and the WDTV box doesn't crash). I emptied out the Twonky cache and tried again, and after the WD box crashed, I looked at the Twonky cache and discovered that it had created the expected two jpg directories, but that there were no cached images in either directory, so I think 6.0.39 does have some sort of issue with image scaling of thumbnail jpg's parsed from FLAC files, and as you have observed the jpg rescale taking high CPU, I wonder if your issue might be related to this bug. I tried setting it manually (against the WDTV MAC address), but the issue still happened (WDTV box locking up and requiring power cycled). This happened every time I tried to show an album thumbnail, so I eventually looked at the Twonky comfig page -> media receivers list, and discovered that it had detected the WDTV box, but it had allocated it against the MAC/IP of the wrong device (actually my PC). When I browsed to albums, the WDTV box locked up (crashed) and I had to physically power cycle it to restore it. A few weeks ago, I was showing someone the WDTV Live Hub (which I use mostly with Twonky Beam on the iPad) and I showed them how it can also see music on my Qnap/Twonky NAS (which is not something I'd normally use). This is capable of showing excellent resolution album art, so I've set Twonky to not rescale art to the iPad (and that all works well). To control it, I use an iPad with Linn's Kinsky app. To give you some background, I mostly use Twonky for streaming music to my audio system. Basically, if you are using 6.0.39, I'd suggest trying 6.0.38 QPKG as that might just fix it for you, but I'll explain what I've found thus far (in case you, or anyone else, finds it useful). I found 6.0.39 had a couple of issues one being that it's causing my disks to spin up several times per day, but the other - which might be relevant to you - is that there seems to be an odd problem when Twonky attempts to show jpg thumbnails my WDTV Live Hub (which I'll describe below). If you are using Twonky version 6.0.39, I think I might be able to help.
